Read-only by default
Out of the box, your Claude can only read. Sending is a separate switch that is off until you turn it on — and even then it is text only, to existing conversations only, capped at 10 messages a minute.
Encrypted at rest
Message content synced through this connection is stored encrypted. One honest consequence: search works on contact names and phone numbers, not inside message text.
A key only you hold
Your key is shown once and never stored in plain form. Regenerate it and the old one dies instantly; revoke it and Claude loses access on the spot.
Delete truly deletes
One click disconnects WhatsApp and permanently wipes every synced message, all media, the session and your key. No soft delete, no retention.
You bring your own Claude: this works with a claude.ai subscription or Claude Code. WhatsTeam is an independent product and is not affiliated with Anthropic. As with any AI, Claude’s answers can be wrong — it reads your chats, but you stay the judge of what they mean.
Common questions
Can Claude message my contacts?
Not unless you explicitly allow it. Sending is off by default. If you turn it on, Claude can only send text to conversations you already have, at most 10 per minute, and you can switch it off anytime.
Which Claude does this work with?
Any Claude that can call an HTTP API with the snippet you copy — most people use Claude Code, where the CLAUDE.md snippet makes it automatic. You use your own Claude subscription; we never see your Claude account.
Can I search my message history?
Claude can list and read your conversations, and search them by contact name or phone number. Because message content is stored encrypted, there is no full-text search across all messages — Claude finds things by opening the right conversation and reading it.
Is this the same as the WhatsTeam team inbox?
No — this is a personal connection for one number, separate from any team. Your personal chats are visible only to your own key: teammates and even company admins cannot read them.
How do I stop?
Revoke the key (Claude loses access immediately) or use “Disconnect & delete everything”, which unlinks WhatsApp and permanently erases all synced messages, media and the key.
